As neighbors strolled into the newly refurbished College Park in Old Cloverdale on Sunday for the first May Festival — a long-abandoned tradition now given new life — it was like a Norman Rockwell scene, with folks greeting one another in a lush, green space just a block or two or up the street from their homes.
May Festival and the re-dedication of College Park on College Street in Old Cloverdale merged into one event. The May Festival was the creation of Emily Brown, a four-year Cloverdale resident and Selma native who brought from her old hometown — among other festivities —the traditional children’s Maypole dance and the arrival of the May Queen to lend the season and the Old Cloverdale area a sense of tradition, nostalgia and unity.Read the FULL ARTICLE on the Montgomery Advertiser.
